Now there will be 20, 22 and 24 deadlines for three different categories of taxpayers.
The central government has given a big relief to small businessmen doing business of less than 5 crore. It has been decided to extend the last date for filing Goods and Services Tax (GST) by four more days. In the current system, traders with annual income of Rs 5 crore or less have to file GSTR-3B return by 20th of every month. But now 20, 22 and 24 will be the last date for three different categories of taxpayers.
22 and 24 dates set for companies with less than 5 crore turnovers.
In the last financial year, the government divided the businessmen with less than Rs 5 crore turnovers into two categories. These 15 states and union territories include Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli. There will be about 49 lakh taxpayers filing GSTR-3B in this category. Apart from this, taxpayers of 22 states and union territories will be able to file GSTR-3B till the 24th without late fees. The remaining 46 lakh taxpayers filing GSTR-3B will be included in this category.

20 date deadline for businesses above Rs 5 crore.

Till now, the deadline for filing tax GSTR-3B for every category was 20th of every month. With this, about 8 lakh regular taxpayers will be able to file GSTR-3B by 20th of every month without paying any late fees.
